I have this vase in my office from Ikea - like a giant 3gallon drinking glass.
I have a big plant (dont know its name) with alot of roots and grows well with a 50w halogen about 3 feet away. Had 10 guppies there for 3 weeks without wc and everything seems perfect; then i wc and half of them died . Now all died. Betta dont like the cold and their tails clamp. Anyone got any suggestions on what to keep in aircon 21.5C water, no air pump, eats mosquito larvae and hardy.

    Platys and mollies?

Cold water can contain more oxygen, I don't think you need to concern yourself too much with them.

I would advise against livebearers... reason being they multiply too fast and may lead to a bioload spike...

How about ruby/ember tetras... a small number of them... or shrimps...

Best if you can show a picture of your setup...

thanks for the fast replies. i will try to get a picture but might take some time because i use a different computer for this. shrimps i have CRS in a 1gallon vase already- try to put picture in together. i also have to consider the ease of changing water - hardyness of fish. best if can use tap water without anti-chlorine. anyone tried these fishes without anti-chlorine?

Given the size of your vase, I would advise against water changes without water conditioner.
You will stress the fishes, even if they can survive it.

I find betta splendens more prone to fungus / fin rot under lower temperatures.

i have tried betta short-tail ones, but the cold 21.5C makes them clamp. long-tail betta is worst - look really pathetic, especially when they got no sparing partner , their fins clamp down and droop. dont know about wild betta though, whether they can take the aircon.

Boraras! Small, qute, & depending on the species, some of them actually looks stunning. Great for nano tanks! I used to have a planted nano tank with 4 of these in the office before & they look great!

If you have a power outlet, that would be great. A small air pump based filter can do wonders. Anyway, white cloud minnows are my favourite option as they actually do better in cold water, they are known as the 'poor man's tetra' in western countries.
