Out of curiosity,as a novice aquascaper,I would like to ask the people here, especially the veterans, how do you gauge if you are ready and able to take care of a bigger tank?

Personally, I think you're ready when your pocket's full and you're more or less done with experimenting. Good thing about having smaller tank is that it is easier to rescape, change substrate etc.

Having a bigger tank usually means such tasks are back breaking.

Eh when you feel the current tank is too small to house your ambitions! Whatever that is hahaha
On a practical side of things, I realise when the tank is too small when I have to do too many water changes for my liking to upkeep the type of bioload I want to keep. Or when I feel the fishes look too cluttered.

When your birthday is near. And you ask for a new and bigger tank as present.

The other way is to splash some water under your tank. And says that the tank is leaking.

Did both and gotten a new tank

I think most important is maintenance time, no need to wait until pocket full.

Don't maintain your tank and let the plant over grow.

When wife ask why the tank is ugly, tell her tank too small need bigger one to hosue these over grow plant. Haha

When you stay up at night thinking about it?

Or when you post this thread asking people's opinion?
