    hi all,
i am considering getting a co2 cylinder, but i know that there is a green colour one and a grey/black one in the market in general.

not much i know about the 2 types other than the green is iron and the grey/blk is aluminium i think, and of course the green is cheaper in price usually.

so if there is no water on the floor will the rust problem be an issue with the green one?
also will the green one really have a shorter life span than the other, as most seem to indicate.

    thanks for your expert opinions.

the grey with black ones are usually aluminium

    the green is usually steel

i'm using the steel one and there are really no difference except that the steel one is much heavier and will rust

I would go with aluminium over iron. Not only it'll last longer, but moving it around is less of a problem too, especially when going for refilling.I have a friend who bought a 7.5 liter cylinder,it weighs a ton.But it lasts for a year.

Well,in the first place I think you should have no problem keeping the place where you put your CO2 cylinder dry.Unless it is really in a weird location and you have no other choice.

Maybe you could wrap the bottom of the cylinder with shrinkwrap if you really want to make sure it won't get wet at all. When I first bought my cylinder,I did not remove the plastic wrapping at all.Too lazy, plus it wasn't in the way of things,so I left it as it was.

    Cheers!

to me those black and grey are more reliable.
Infact you can see those industrial use type also black and grey.
Never saw any people use green type for industrial use.

    that's what i thought also.
only see green ones in fish shops.
but the only thing is that if it is a one to one exchange , then rust doesn't really matter , right?
unless the shop does not accept the empty cylinder.
will they only do that for the grey/white ones or for both.
    thnks

weight is not an issue as long as it serves its functions. This goes the same as the thickness of the tank, why some prefer 10mm and some go for 6mm.
There is no inferior tank as long as it serve its function. unless you are talking about added value.

it is added value, 6mm tank have less distortion than 10mm tank . Grey/Black have life time warranty compare to the green one. I considered that as an added value .

    No 1 to 1 exchange?

My tank is the green one and I get 1 to 1 exchange at K&K in Tampines.

o... that new input, thanks for sharing.

I was though they do 1 to 1 because the gery/black is life time warranty, so easier for them if the return tank faulty.

Nope I didn't buy the tank from them. Cost me $18 to exchange 1 for 1. How much does it cost to recharge your tanks? I suppose they will reject tanks that look really bad though.

    thanks guys for the clarification.
not my personal experience, (as I have non yet), but I was told that there is a higher incidence of leakage from the green ones, not to mention , some will always say that it will rust as it is steel, and of course definitely heavier, not for the weaker guys I guess.

apologise if i offend those guys with green ones, but am considering getting a cylinder, so appreciate all the inputs from bros here to finalise my decision.
    thanks again.
