Are they newly added? i only had my yamato shrimp jump out and die, i suspect that they are new to the tank and didnt like it at first. my cherries have not jumped, they seem very happy with the condition
What is your water level height? I believe it is too near the brim. I have encountered this before. For my case, there is no floating plants, but they like to crawl up to the surface. Sometimes, they jump even in water. Therefore, I don't find it surprising if they jump out of the tank when the water level is high.
i never have any experience on shrimp jumping even my tank height less a feet. Water level normally about 1inch to the brim.

why not try covering ur tank with tank's cover or use wire mesh also can. ^^ or lower the height of ur water.
Shrimp do not normally jump out of the water unless they are really stressed e.g. there's something wrong about the water or being chased by predators.

hmm i have no floating plants in my tank.my water is quite high to the brim.i have 10 blue cherries,10 red cherries and 8 A grade crs.the ones that jump out are 1 blue n red cherry.i just did a water change as well as rescaping however the rest of the shrimps were fine except for the 2 that commit sucide.
water conditions... maybe they are stress. forgot to add anti chlorine once and my shrimp nearly died. lucky i was there to see them walking left and right, like drunk.
Fishes will do the same too. If water conditions are bad they will
- act weird, swim very fast, scrap themselves on tank surface
- jump out of water, stay on surface of water
- you will see them choking. as if they can't get air.
what is your water parameters?

(ph 7) , (ammonia 0), (NO2 0), (NO3 5 ppm)
Never seen a cherry jump out, but it is possible. Yamatos are famous for climbing out, then running across the room! I only keep the Yamatos in a tank that is escape proof.
As far as your water parameters it could be some undetectable chemical or copper which the shrimp don't like. May be good to change some water just in case.

Zhong Wei,
Sorry that I side track a little.....
Just to ask, if there are floating plants, maybe it is not possible to jump off the tank directly, but with the floating plants, isn't it more easy for them to jump off using them as a platform ?
I have never experience them jumping off. But with this worried in mind, I try not to fill the tank to the rim.... I have seen them at the surface of the frogbits and even with the heads above the plants for a few seconds (just to smell around?)
So, to have or not to have floating plants?
EK

nope there are no floating plants in my tank but i just change my tank to 2ft so currently no shrimps jumping out.maybe there is not enough oxygen in my tank so they jump out.
My yamato jumped out of my tank and crawled from my living room to the kitchen before! Probably about 10m or more.

Had the same thing happen on more than one occasion. I once read they can run like cockroaches, but did not believe it until I saw one doing just that!
The cherries on the other hand, can't run, they can barely hop a bit outside water. So if they jumped they should be nearby. Best to keep around 5-6cm of space above the waterline so the shrimp don't jump/climb out. I never put a lid on my shrimp tanks since it is just too hot here, need all the circulation I can get.
