DO oto fish devour shrimp?I had a dead shrimp today and when i saw it it was only left with its head... Must i remove the oto? & i had unknown death these days.
Some of my tank specs,
1ftx18cmx17cm tank with 5sakaura and 3 oto with hang on filter and 9w light on 8 hours daily and one nana, mossball and 3 mesh of spiky moss using GEX soil(red). 10%water changed alternate days with does of Mosura Bioplus and Minerals plus.
Ph6.3
NO3 30ppm
NO2 unknown
is it my NO3 too high? any ways to reduce NO3?

shrimp feeds on dead shrimp. mostly, the missing part that you observed is very likely eaten by the shrimp. My oto has never touched any of my dead shrimp. From what I have read from many forummers, oto is shrimp-friendly.
ya oto are quite friendly, i only see shrimps feeding on my dead oto.
i think otto will only eat shrimp if they are already dead.. otherwise they are rather harmless tank partners with shrimps..
I removed my oto and add in ramhorns snail instead as i am afraid oto may accidentally suck the shrimplets as my tank is only 1ft cube which is quite small and they are moving quite fast compare to snails. However if your tank is quite big (2ft and above) it should be fine with otos.
Thanks bro for all ur replies! it make me feel better but however i guess i would remove them and replace them with snails because whenever i on my light the oto swim so chaos and stir up the soil and knock into the shrimps!....bro vernonlcm where u bought ur ramhorn snails?

Otocinculus will not ever eat shrimp, they are vegetarians. In fact they prefer algae over plants, which is why they are good for plant tanks. I have put ottos in my killi tanks, and they don't even eat the eggs! I would say the safest fish for keeping with shrimp!
