set up at 2-2.5 Feet tank

Hi All, maybe this has been asked before but cant seem to find the thread but anyway i would like to set a 2-2.5FT tank but i just want to get a Hang On Filter, any advice on the size that i should get and how many KG of soil should i get also. intend to set by this week,so its going to be a long weekend .

Good morning,
For 2 - 2.5 feet tank, u need at least 6-8 kg of soil. If you wants to scape ut new tank, you might need another 4 - 6 kg of soil. Its really depends on your scape. As for hang on filter, i'm currently using 2 GEX HOF for my 40cm x 25cm x 26cm feet tank (shrimp tank with alot of moss and shrimps). If you have alot of bioload, i will suggest you to get at least a high flow rate canister.

hey bro, u are using 2 GEX HOF? is there a need to use two? why can get a bigger one.so is there a size number that i should be targetting. in my tank, i m just gona put some Moss on driftwood and Riccia on Mesh and Shrimp and i kind of have a liking for Hang On Filters

haha, just feel that my water is not clear enough plus i have like 70 over shrimps + 10 smails in my 40 cm tank now.
well, i'm upgrading soon to 2 feet

i think you can just follow the recommendations on the box. I always get one step higher if possible. HOB doesn't create high flow in the water like internal or cannister filters.

Yes, use a filter with a higher flowrate than normal because when you factor in driftwood and plants, water flow in the tank gets reduced drastically.
