My Black Guppy Tank

Hi there, never post for a long time liao, so decided to post some pics of my tank since I did some minor changes to it. Just got these guppies today, as I gave away my cherries. My tank consists of the pair of guppies, some snails and three shrimps, not sure what species of shrimp though. Some simple moss as plants.

The female guppy which I'll use to hopefully breed some full black fries.


The black guppy has a little blue on it, almost full black.

Pls give me comments on how to improve the look on my tank...thanks! ^^

those brown "twig-like" plant(what is that?) looks like have thorns! doesn't look fish-friendly to me. perhaps you can try those dwarf plants/ferns for the background?

is that dried up flame coral? looks nice care to share where you got it? though I do agree that its quite a sharp addition to a guppy tank might shread the male's long tail... or is it the fake rubbery or plastic type which is quite safe...

Erm i dont really know what the name of the plant is, although i do know that it is a type of coral. As zoothefreak says, i think it's most probably a dried up flame coral. I had them in my tank because this used to be my shrimp tank and the shrimps love to clinging onto this kind of stuff. Now that there's only 3 shrimps left, i have recently decided to removed a significant number of the plant also because as u guys said that it could harm the guppies. But i still have left some there for the shrimps and future fries to hide from the guppies.

nice pair of guppies especially the black one.. any reason why you put in the twig-like plant? if not i think you can find a nice driftwood or bogwood for center piece, and it is enough to make a nice simple scape. i saw a tank of atum angel with only bare minimum set-up with a big driftwood in the middle and sand it was impressive, creating a black and white look. anyway that was just abit of my thought, hope will be of help.

like i said, the twig-like plant will provide good shelter for future fries and the shrimps like clinging onto them, i have already reduced the number of the twig-like plant to minimise harm to the guppy. all twig-like plants are now placed at the corner of the tank to minimise contact with the guppy. i would like to place driftwood or bogwood in the middle but my tank's kinda small, so its difficult to find a piece that can actually fit into the tank. cant wait for fries to be born so i can start selling them hehe

I love guppy. my nick name is mean: guppy ^^. there are 200 males guppies in my tank

Hi

Mind give you some comment to take really good care of your prize blackie guppies. All guppies love planted tank ..reason why they love to feed on some algae which locate around the plant and a good water cycle system will stablize their colour and their beings well. Try not to add some twigs that will accident tear the male guppy's precious feather like fin/ tail.

Then you will see more fries is coming on the way...

hi there ^^ yes i've made much changes to this tank! ive removed ALOT of the twigs, now there's like only one or two small branches...and ive added lots of moss to the tank and im expecting fries soon cos the female's belly is significantly big =D hope the moss helps the fries to hide from their parents haha

thanks all for the comments! really appreciate it! btw i do keep this tank in my room, which is air-conditioned for most of the time and they seem to be doing pretty fine i guess
