If you are buying a Teco I would suggest a minimum of 1/3HP if not 1/2HP

I tried both Hailea and Teco. Teco is definetly quieter and more efficient.

Definitely 1 HP. I am running 1/2 HP RA680 for my 5feet. and the chiller kick in for like 2 hours to cool 1 degree celsius with 2 x 150W MH, 4 x 55W PL, one ehiem filter, two dolphin 808 power head.. too hot..

Buy good equipment if you want to use long term like 5 years and more. Fixing and removing piping for repair job is too much hassle for me.

The 1 HP is HC-1000A. for pump, i recommend Eheim 1262 flowrate at 3400L/Hr priced at $218. you will need to get a screw on pipe to change the pump outlet to 25/34mm hose. default for pump outlet is 16/22mm. Both the inlet and outlet pipe for the chiller uses 25/34mm hose. so you will need to get 25/34mm hose from Eheim at $12.5/meter, if your tank got not drilled holes at the bottom, you will need 2 25/34mm hang on inlet pipe with elbow and for easy maintenance in future, get 2x double tap. all these do add up bro, who say fish keeping is cheap..lol

    1. chiller- $700
    2. Eheim 1262- $218
    3. Eheim Double tap- $90 each, need 2
    4. Eheim hose 25/34mm- 4m min, $50
    5. Eheim pump outlet variable $15
    5. Eheim inlet hang on pipe- $18, need 2
    6. Eheim Elbow- $8, need 2
    7. Optional pre filter, get industrial water filter housing $110 ( i didnt use this but my friend does)
    8. Modified Thermostat ($150), didnt use as well.

MY chilelr kick in one for 30 min every 4 hours. Temp set at 25 Deg. Koi are happy and plants in sump is healthy
