It will be More expensive from the lfs as they sell their shrimp as a job. You should look out for.post in the wts section.its cheaper.

Wow that question was quite sometime ago and I am a regular in WTS now. It really depends. At times you will find cheap and nice shrimps in LFS. Like what I got in my CRS tank.

Hi, the males are smaller and slender while the females are bigger with a saddle like on its back, kind of yellowish. The picture above clearly shows one on the left. Happy shrimping. Cheers

If you want to breed, remove the neon tetras to give the baby shrimplets higher chance of survival. If not i believe almost all of the shrimplets will be eaten by the tetra. Only Oto is 100% safe with shrimps.

    Hi jeft,

I read about tetra eating all the small offsprings. I was contemplating very hard whether buy tetras as I am worried on my depleting colony of shrimplets.

However, I found out after researching many posts online, the shrimplets can survive when they are given enough hiding space. I have seen my shrimplets evading the tetras real fast as the zoom around my tank in flashes. My female shrimp just give birth to like 10+ about 2 weeks ago. Now they grew bigger and painted with my color of red. I guess their size now really cannot fit into my tetras mouth.

In another aspect, tetras can be used to control the shrimplets colony as I do not want my small tank to be over flooded with shrimps

Yes. if with enough hiding place and since you don't mind then it is ok. Usually breeder will not keep them together. Anyway RCS spawn faster than any other shrimp so should not be a real issue.

If you want to keep fish with shrimp, boraras are a good choice. From what one seen in my tank, they've never attacked a shrimplet. That's from what I've seen.

Just curious, is my shrimp red as compared to anyone of you here?

Should this shrimp be classified as RCS or Fire Red? I got them from Polyart and they labelled it RCS and it was not that red that time I bought!!
