Hi. This is the first time i wash my etheim canister, 2224. After i fixs everything back, i turn on my electricity plug, and my canister will create a sound until i turn on the canister switch on tap. When i turn off the switch tap, the sound will come back. Is this normal?

You need to fill the canister full with water. Also, ensure that the hose is full of water before switching the canister on.

What do you actually mean by switching off the tap? with water filled to the maximum?
or when it is running then you on the tap? and which tap are you talking about(inlet or outlet )?

Please illustrate the situation with more clarity and precision before we can actually pinpoint the problem.
    Thanks..

Okay. Currently my canister is running, means water full already and both Inlet outlet both is on. If now i off both inlet and outlet with electricity turn on, there will be sound until i turn off the electricity or turn on both inlet outlet. Is the sound normal?

seriously, why would you turn off the tap with the electricity on ? wait for it to explode?

if there's no sound during normal operations , it should be normal.
if there's a slight buzz, might be air in the canister. always fill the canister up before turning it on.

yah, to stop it , just switch it off. there will be water , just not moving through. then u off the taps. at least for me i do this.

incase im wrong? whats the rationale for turning off the tap first?

Yes..switching off the tap might create abit of sound..for my case i think my o-ring has abit of problem thats why air goes in (minute amount) but that does not affect the normal running of the filter.. by switching off the taps it prevents backflow and also helps to retain water in the pipes for easy priming..

I thought the inlet outlet tap was like a on and off switch. Just like tv, gt this on and off button. My rationale was wrong i suppose?

so many sms lingo.... this is not hardwarezone.com.sg...

    Google is my friend
putting the canister back starts around 7 minutes into the video.
Priming the canister is at 7.40 minutes into the video.

the "switch" might be what we call "tap".... you turn it off water cannot go in nor out hence the power-head make some amazing noise like a motorcar.

P.S: i am assuming your meaning Eheim not Etheim, google translate has a speaker logo where it will say it out for you to listen. it took me long to digest how to say "EEE HAM" and not Eat Tham" ...
