My first attempt on paludarium

Hi,

A newbie on planted tank suddenly moved to paludariums. Still learning though. I hope you guys can help me on some of my questions and point out any mistakes im doing.

My setup:

Tank is 3x1.5x1.5 which is viewable on 3 sides (serves as a semi-divider on my living room)
Submerged plants: cheap plants/java ferns with nanas,fissidiens,flame moss.
Emersed plants: nanas, riccia, java moss, spanish moss, air plants, and some kind of mini carniv. plants
Floating: frogbits
CO2 injected at 1bps
Lights: 2x40watts 6hrs daily
Covered with small fan running 24hrs

Questions:
Do i need a humidifier to keep my emersed plants thrive?
Temp increased to 31deg if i covered it fully and i feel the temp inside is very hot when i open the cover. Do i need to add fan or open the cover for a few hrs daily.
When i keep the cover open, mosquitoes tend to stay inside my auarium which im very worried. How do i solve this?

Forgot to add.
My fishes are platties, neon tetras, guppies, angel fishes, and shrimps(cherries, sakuras, green, and yamatos)
I dont have much of a land areas coz im not sure if there will be other ones compatible with my fishes.

One thing's for sure. Don't get newts if you find them, 31 degrees will make them toast.

In fact, most amphibians will be toast.


Cool the tank down, lift the lights higher if possible, move the water.

Sherwin, don't leave places to have stagnant water.

Mosquitos need stagnant water to lay eggs and larva stage. In the case you do have stagnant water.

You should remove the cover if you want to lower the temp.

Thanks. Not sure what you meant by stagnant water. My tank has a running filter with rain bar/waterfall on the right. I can keep the mosquitoes out by covering the tank but will increase the inside temp if i turn on the light. I know my tank wont be bred by mosquitoes coz i have a bunch of always hungry fishes. But just afraid it could attract them if open.

By the way, i have eheim 2213 filter running continuously.

You have seen those mesh nets? You can try the fine ones.

Was given the impression you have stagnant water. (water that is still. Non moving)
Not which part you can't understand that Mosquitos need stagnant water to breed.

Given that NEA is always putting up posters about it.

Your spanish moss is a type of air plant, may be do well in the long run in this tank.

I like you set up. You can do more if you add bigger bogwood or larger rock to create island, and you may even add some fern on it.

As for the mosquitoes part, don't worry too much if the setup has this "stagnant water" will cause mosquitoes breeding like what Felix said earlier. As long, your fishes are within a tank, the NEA officer won't even take a 2nd look at this. Oops sorry bro Felix...your mistake this part, lah.

Finally decided to fully cover them. Im making my own hood with 2 fans, 1 intake and 1 exhaust to keep the temp down.
