    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

    1) Size (Google online please and read the specs) C4 is the biggest one. choose the right one for your tank.
    2) They are sold all over. Not all LFS has it. They are also sold online as well.
    3) All C series comes with carbon bag, c-nodes, bio screen and poly/foam pad.
    4) Cost, each below 100 bucks.

    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

I got my C3 from C328, saw that they have the C2 to C4 as well. The price difference between models not a lot. I suppose you buy need on the size of your tank. Filter media I think the foam wise should use their one but possibly can diy by cutting..but I think need not worry so much, apparently the foam filter can and supposed to be washed and reuse. Should last for a while. However the biological media can easily use other brands. I replaced the carbon pouch with Seachem Matrix for additional biological filtering capability(recommended by a online site where I read the C3 review).

    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

    As what bro Cyberkinetic mentioned.

    1) Carbon Bag - Remove it. It absorbs micro nutrient if you are having a planted tank. Replace it with other media. Like the one mentioned before. Don't throw it away, the activated carbon is still useful for other uses.
    2) C-Notes (Media) Can replace with just about anything else on the market. Make sure to rinse it before using.
    3) The poly/foam pad. Cyberkinetic's idea is right. The porous side traps large particles and the other side traps fine debris. Just go any LFS and buy them foam. Cheap.

Cyberkinetic , you still have the bio screen? The cloth placed on top of the trickle chamber. Mine too dirty to the max. So I threw away. Nope not replacing. it works fine without it.

    Here's a link. Read it. http://www.amazon.com/Hagen-14003-Fl.../dp/B003SJXTIU

Hi bro VSGenesis, I still have the bio screen but as I've just setup my tank with plants and in fishless cycling now, it's still very clean. Haha.. I read online as well that once too dirty just dump it. Which I probably will do so.

I kept the C-nodes in the filter since it comes with it and I just bought a small can of Matrix... Haha..not enough to fill up the chemical filter compartment and the biological compartment. Maybe in the future can try some other media.

As for the carbon bag, just kept it aside to use next time.. Don't think I need it now.

    Sounds exactly what I'm doing.

I used it with my Eheim cannister on 3ft once. It was great. Then I move it over to my 2ft.
I love it. Plus with weekly bacterlife, I got to cycling my tank within 2 weeks plus. Was impressed but I still waited for a full month before adding fauna.

Yeap on a C4 which is too strong for the 2ft even with the lowest setting. Had to make sure water level is right at the lip.

I use Gex HOF too on a smaller tank. All Japanese word, no idea what's inside one of the filter. One is the foam pad and the other one I ain't sure. Could be carbon. Shrugs. I took some Eheim Substrat from my cannister and placed it inside the Gex HOF. Made a bit of noise; had to adjust. Now, tank is fantastico! Guppy tank for gf.

    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a sponge prefilter for the inlet to the C3?

Just thinking it might be easier for maintenance instead of washing the internal sponge all the time.

I read in a Amazon review of the filter that they are using the prefilter designed for the Fluval Edge's filter. I don't think I've seen it in the fish shops that I've been to so far though.

    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

Had to dig this thread out again... I have ditched the piece of cloth as well.

Discovered that water was overflowing from the trickle chamber and realize that the piece of cloth is clogged full with debris. Even after washing it(which was quite difficult since it is a small piece)%2pand placing it back on the filter, the same overflowing happened just after a day. I think apparently the clogging is inside the cloth and won't be easily cleaned with simple rinsing in a pail. Probably gotta blast it with a water jet.. haha

Anyway, alternative is to cut tiny piece of filter wool and place it on top and change regularly. For now, happy running without it.

    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

Let's see.. You exit the mrt from the side opposite the shopping mall. Then follow the sheltered walkway till the end and cross the road. Should see POSB ATM, then turn right and walk along the hdb block where botak jones western food is located. Keep walking till the end and go up the stairs at the end of the block. That's block 328 already. You'll past by Polyart before reaching C328 which is further away along the same block.

    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

Am having a little issue with my C3, somehow I can't set it at the lowest flow rate.. It makes some really weird noses continuously can I can see bubbles coming out of the filter. If I set the flow to at least middle or full power, it works just fine.
I've tried reinstalling the input pipe to make sure it is secured and also put water sufficiently to get it started. No use at all. Problem persists.
    Anybody faced the same issue?

At the MRT station, C328 is on the side opposite of the road from the shopping area. (If you cross over to where there are many shops in the central area, then you will be on the wrong side). You can walk along the long covered walk-way towards C328 which is to the right as you walk towards the end of the walk-way.

@ ChromiumX Since you have access to the internet, use googlemap, streetdirectory, gothere.sg to find your way. Print it and then topo.
If you are using an iphone or smartphone, use it to assist you. -_-'
Apparently, there are still very nice people in forum to have responded to question...

@ Cyberkinetic, Bro I'm not sure if you are having the same problem or rather mistake that I have.
I was cleaning my Fluval. That U hose when I placed it back, I did not place it properly. It was partially covering the "hole".
I placed a bag of media in the activated carbon part. This caused lower ouput and I had to adjust to middle setting. It's placement of the hose and amount of media. Sound I get is usually at start up where I just need to pour some water into the fluval and then that's it.

    Re: Fluval C Series HOF

    Hi VSGenesis,

many thanks for the explanation. I think it make sense now. I'm sure the placement was alright, because I tried it several times to make sure. Also I didn't add new media...BUT... my foam pad had been choked with dirt which I didn't do a 100% thorough cleaning, just briefly rinsed it only. I think that could've contributed to the resistance of water flow. Also believe it or not, I can see the fish food somehow making their way and onto the drip tray on top. I assume then that the Seachem Matrix which I loaded fully into the chemical filtration part must also be partially choked with debri. I just did not open it up to see that's all.

Anyway, I got myself a Eheim 2224 yesterday, going to perform "migration" over to the new filter. haha..
