4ft goldfish tank

Hi.

I am currently having a 4ft black water set up.

I am thinking of changing it to a Ranchu set up.

Any advise for a newbie?

Planted or bare tank etc.

I will greatly appreciate if you are comfortable to share your currently goldfish set up.

Definitely bare tank. Goldfish eats plants, swallow pebbles, and they have very high bioload.

You will need good filtration system, lots of regular water change, and some coral chips to buffer your water.

Before you buy your ranchus, go and find out what is a good type for ranchus, so you can avoid what not to get. I think you can stock 4 to 5 ranchus in your 4ft tank.

I read up from the Internet that Ranchu are cold water fish and required temperature of around 22 degree.

Does that meant that I will need a chiller?

Sorry I can't give you that info. But if I were to do it I would skip the chiller.

Goldfishes will do better in cold water. But they will survive in our room temperature, just that they will not live that long, or grow that well.
