Wow... on its paper specs the aquacompact lists a max head height of only 50cm (at or above max. head height pumps usually encounter greatly reduced or no flow), but by estimation from your photo the height distance between your filter and tank looks to be around 80-100cm? And you didn't experience any issue in the flow rate? Even with a reducer and the chiller combined together too? Thats quite amazing!

For the locally available model, seems that an Eheim 2211 is a perfect choice with the 9/12 hose size. 300L/Hr flow rate can be negated by packing in more medias and probably a tap to reduce outflow if needed.

Yup its not the one from aquarist chamber. Got it online off a chinese site.
Its a 35L chiller, Voltage: AC110-220V/50-60Hz, Power: 100-120W, Flow rate: 1-3L/min. Information is got off the chinese site.
Setup is Filter Pump - Chiller - Canister - Back to tank.

Hi guys I used a very small internal filter to connect to tem chiller. Aquaspeed 1.2watts it is important not to use overly powerful pumps as they produce quite alot of heat. Something like 200l/hr 2-3 watts will do,nicely for small tanks

I'm not sure. Maybe because your filter motor is inside the tank, while mine is underneath the tank. So there could be a difference in how they push and pull water.

Mind sharing how you connect the filter to the hose?

Do you place your chiller on the floor too? Because I tried using my Dymax PH200, but it is not able to pull water from chiller up to the tank at about 1.5m height.

    hi bro

i place the chiller on top of the tank. it is not good to place TEM chiller on the floor or in the cabinate.
because it generates hot air and hot air rises and will warm up your tank.
instead i put it on top of my tank. hot air will rise and escape from the windows.
when you put on top of your tank, u will need only a small pump to power it.

Hi bro, do you have any pictures on how you hook the chiller to the pump?

    Thanks bro!

In my case I cant put the chiller on top. So I must put it on below the tank, but of course not inside a cabinet.
Anyway, I have already bought a small external pump, it should be powerful enough to pull the water up

Do you guys know what material is the cooling chamber made of?
Recent studies shows that putting recent studies in your statement have a higher percentage of trust people put into your recent studies. What?

Actually this chiller only can cope with a max size of 30l, i tried on my 32l and i won't drop below 27 plus it took almost 24 hours to get there, my usual water temp is 30d.celsius

    Re: mini chiller

    hi bros,
i am actually using a 2nd hand dolphin MC790 225watts tem chiller. i modifed it with 3x12cm DC fans for faster cooling of the heat sink.
it is now running about 8hours per day to cool down 1.5ft tank to 24C.

i am still not too happy with the cooling performance. it is also very loud. but lucky it is in my kitchen.
the bottleneck seems to be the 3 small aluminium heatsinks as they cant disspiate heat fast enough to improve performance.
i am testing now if i reduce the 10mm gap between the 3 fans and heatsinks it can improve the heat disspiation.

    Re: mini chiller

Im running a chiller similar to the ones sold by AC but mine is 72 watts? (bought off a bro here) My tank is 13.38 liters and managed to cool down to 26C in 4 hours. Upon reaching the desired temperature, i takes about an hour or so before the chiller kicks in.

Just wanna ask, but with the dophin mc790, it draws more wattage and you cant set the temperature right? so it keeps operating for 8 hours straight?

Yeah, my tank is about 30L and the lowest it can go is 26c. Without chiller the water is 31c.

    Re: mini chiller

I suppose that's the limitation. My is 20 L and can only reach 25-26. Usual tank temp is around 29-30 at this kinda weather.

[QUOTE=Urban Aquaria;777406]You'll need to connect it to a submersible pump or a canister filter to move water through the chiller... note that this chiller model uses 8mm inflow/outflow ports.

Im looking at the 2211 (In 16/22, Out 9/12). Must i still use a reducer to connect to the chiller?

Okay, since the chiller will be positioned at the outflow section, the 2211's smaller 9/12 outflow hose sizing should match the chiller's in/out port size, so it'll not be necessary to use a reducer.

    Re: mini chiller

A little update here, for those who plan to use or already using their canister output to power the chiller. As mentioned above my Eheim 2213 was struggling & making loud rattling noise when I hook the chiller onto it. After using it for 2 day, my impeller was damage. The fan blade broke off from the magnet.

So now I'm using an external pump to power it. Your mileage may vary, but be careful.
