I think lots of you can identify this itch I have of wanting to rescape frequently...like every month!

Tired of replanting, and then waiting for the plants to grow, I used on plants and mosses tied to wood. This is actually my third rescape in a month!! I initially had only enough plants for the left half of the tank. $31 later and adding a fissiden moss wood from my shrimp tank, the right side was added to complete the tank. Total time spent aquascaping was an hour!! How cool is that?

modular aquascaping is what I call this method.

Remember folks...you heard it here first!!

Now let's see how long before I have another aquascaping itch to scratch again!!

Actually the pic is two hours old!!

maybe can have aquascaping party at my place.....I can lay out all the rocks, plants and wood....leaving the tank bare... Then we all scape the tank together!!!

just bring snacks!!

Yeah, i've been gradually shifting my tanks to a similar "modular" aquascape style too... trying to use plants only tied or attached to wood and rocks, none planted in the substrate, hence easy to move around and transfer across tanks within seconds, and with zero mess.

Initially i was concerned that plant selections would be limited, but then i discovered that most plants actually don't need to be put into substrate, they can be grown with roots adapted to take in nutrients from the water column too (ie. HC can be tied to rocks, even cryptocorynes can be attached to wood too).

Maybe this modular thing is like building sand castles ..... Enjoy the process of aquascaping, appreciate the finished product.... then start again!!

hahaha i like the modular concept. Mine although planted to the soil, trust me it's never stopping me when i have the same itch, i will somehow have energy boost and when done, i will be flat out.

at around 2.28 he started placing rocks of HC only hair grass is planted in...

hope you don't mind my non-constructive comment.
Nice tank you have there indeed!
To setup a tank within 2 hours to have it look mature is not an easy task especially for a big tank... Do show us an update photo when the water clears up

Thanks for showing me the video....seeing amano tanks only shows that I have lots to learn. But I am sure it will be a fun and worthwhile journey... I only hope it is not an expensive journey!!

Woke up this morning with a major itch. So rescaped my 4 footer. All done in 45 minutes!!

Here is what it has evolved to:

There is now Monte Carlo on the left hand side....starting to carpet...this side receives the morning sun about 3-4 hours a day. The blyxa is planted, but they are easily removed if I want to play around with the arrangement. The Hygrophila Difformis is actually suspended in the water and held down by being squeezed between back glass and driftwood

Wow I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread and I am amazed! I didn't know you could grow hc without planting into substrate? How does it carpet then?? Can It work with glosso and is Co2 required? Haha I have too many questions..! But I'm now excited to try it out!

Btw what is the plant in your last pic? The brightest free on the top right side of the "island"?
