    Hi
Do you have photo of it? :-)
I notice that as the planted tank gets bigger, injecting the right amount of Co2 get more trickier due to bad flow and blind spots created in the tank.
With a smaller tank you can only have too much but in a large there is never enough.

For my 4 feet tank, Co2 bps is uncountable and yet have plants not doing well.

Will do. Although I don't know what kind of hardware shop to start with. I don't think the normal hardware shop will carry this.

The reactor for my 4 feet could never meet the demands for my tank. The DC was always blue green. Thats when my tank's scape and plants' health started to spiral down. I still have not gotten back to the former beauty of my tank. The damage was that bad. I was constantly fiddling with reactor to get the DC to be lime green but then it was too late. All sorts of Co2 related algae took over my tank. I gave up and switched back to inline diffuser.
Maybe running a reactor is suitable for planted tank guru / shīfu like you :-)

    Have a nice weekend.

Especially if you are using Co2 pressure resistant tubing, the fit is tight enough to break it when trying to remove for cleaning. I've broken a few over the past few years, and no choice have to buy new units to replace.

Nowadays, i use a push-fit pneumatic quick connector installed in between the bubble counter and check valve, so that i can disconnect the hose easily for maintenance, without trying to pull it from the fragile Co2 input port. It looks like this:

Can get them from most industrial hardware stores.
Hi UA, could you share a photo of how you fit this quick connector?

Based on my understanding, it should be bubble counter ---> quick connector ---> check valve? So there is only the Co2 tube running through it? Would really make taking off the outflow lily pipe easier since its currently attached to the inline diffuser, and cleaning it involves unscrewing the eheim double tap, and/or the inline diffusers, or prying apart the co2 tubing from the diffuser and praying the nipple doesn't break.

Also, do you remember where you got it? Is it a direct fit, or must modifications be done?

Yeah, for my setup i simply install the quick connector before the check valve, mainly so that tank water does not back-flow into it when the solenoid is off.

I got mine from Teck Siong Huat Hardware, here is a product listing at their website: http://tecksionghuat.com/?wpcproduct...sh-in-fittings

I've also seen similar ones sold at various hardware stores and LFS too, i guess you can shop around to find them.

Its a direct fit to the Co2 tubing. Just to be sure, bring along a sample of your Co2 tubing to test fit the correct connector size before purchasing.

Thank you UA! Will go hunt it down tomorrow. Together with the Eheim double taps, makes maintenance much easier! Thanks for the tip!

Quick check with you guys running the ISTA co2 reactor.

For the nipple where the co2 tubing attaches, is the locking nut detachable from the main unit? Mine is not detachable, I have to fit the hose, and turn the lock but upwards to tighten the hose.

No matter how I try, I can't tighten the hose. Already dipped the hose in hot water and pushed as far as I can go.

Yes, that is correct, the Co2 port locking nut cannot be removed and you have to turn the nut upwards to secure the Co2 tubing (just like the other hose lock nuts).

I guess the Co2 tubing you got is very rigid type, those do require more effort to fit onto Co2 ports. Just be careful not to break the port in the process.

As long as the Co2 tubing has a secure fit on the Co2 port (it doesn't pop out on its own) and it doesn't leak at that point, it will be fine. Its not necessary for the lock nut to tighten around the tubing as different tubing brands may be made at slightly different outer diameters.

Do note that the Co2 port is plastic and very fragile, so in any event if you need to remove the tubing from it during maintenance, be very careful as the tubing could have created a very secure fit over time and it can easily break the port if too much force is applied while removing the tubing.

If you're using the stiff kind of hose, dipping into hot water won't do any good. I tried something similar and what I did was to put about 3 cm of the Co2 tube into boiling water. Be careful not to scald your hand or get the tube melting. Once the hose is soft, you have to move quickly, as the hose can harden fast and your Co2 tube might get fixed only half the way into the Co2 port.
    Good luck.
