Hi Guys,

I'm royston. I'm new to this new hobby like you guys. however i still got no clues on many stuffs. Need your guide around.

Anyway, this is my new setup as per the picture. Any feedbacks or recommendations? Is my filter too small?

Since i add in the fishes, 2 of my fish have died. not on the same day but maybe around 3-4 days interval. the others are doing fine

New fish dying may be due to the difference in water condition of your tank, which can be very different from the water at the shop.
Strong fish are able to withstand such difference, but more delicate ones may be overwhelmed and succumb to water shock.

Same case for my cardinal tetras, kept them in my planted. Died 1 by 1. Water conditions might be very different from the shop

Hi, I am new to this hobby as well. I started out with a 5 gallon tank and the fishes just die one after another. So I tried with a 2 feet tank and now I have tank full of healthy plants, tetra and shrimps with no casualties for 4 months and the shrimps have multiplied from 10 to uncountable. Guess anything below 2feet can be difficult for newbie like me as I do not invest in test kits.

Any kind of fish can be 'tough' if they are kept healthy throughout their lives.
Fish which have been through being kept for a period in sub-optimal water conditions are invariably weak.
Thus, even if they belong to a hardy species, they would have become very vulnerable.
It all depends on what they have been through.

Yes, a bigger body of water is easier to stabilize, provided it is not overcrowded with livestock .
Also. the less chemicals used, the better. In a small tank, a seemingly small dose of chemicals is actually big.
