Shimmering colors! Overall of fish looks good. Seems like being kept well before selling.
Hi guys,
As promised, I'll post up a quick grab shot of the Laetacara species I got from C328 just now. Thought I get it out of the way before reservist. Just in case they don't survive till then. * touch wood!
I'm not too sure about the species, but I suspect it's Laetacara curviceps.
As stated earlier, fishes are still stressed and just dunked into the tank. So colors are off, but you can see the potential. As it is, I can already see blue, green, yellow, red, magenta, cyan and black. Pity the anal fin is partially hidden by the substrate. Anyway, picture is crap as camera is dirty and I had only 1 flash. Even the batteries dying on me. Arrgh!
ck, check out the beautiful dorsal and central fins!!
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Thanks! I'm quite happy with the condition of the fishes as well. However, the downside is that I think I have only male specimens. Need to check if there are females available as well. Otherwise, it just good to add into planted tanks for show only.
Cheers,

Wow the fish looks like got potential! Is it safe to keep them with boraras, clown killies and other small planted tank fishes?

If it is L.curviceps, then there are females from the previous batch of buy.
But also not many females.
Good catch Benny! From the pic can see the colors on the whole fish although the fish is still stress.![]()

Wow the fish looks really good. Beautiful colours and long fins. Good catch Benny!
Wa. Nice hor? You should have some females in your OTHER batch isn't it?

Thanks guys.
Hopefully those into South American Dwarf Cichlids will not miss this extremely good value for money alternative. Whilst they do not have sleek torpedo shaped body, their have a deep body with extreme coloration. Will be a great addition to any planted tank. I was previously considering the bolivian ram, Mikrogeophagus altispinosus.
On that thought, I think I will keep this batch for my planted tank. Without females, they should not disturb the substrate and will be constantly flaring at each other with great colors.
ck, so you interested to give it another go?

pity none are left at c328![]()
Given the recent popularity, I sure this species will be restocked very soon. Those interested should have to pine for long.

This is a very nice fish, Benny. But I am wondering: is the slightly sunken abdomen normal for this species? Or is it just hungry?

i think i need to stay away from LFS for a few weeks...i'm feeling the draw to obtain some dwarf cichlids for my 422 planted discus tankneed to wait for the urge to subside before going to safely view fish again!
Bad thought: Or....i could just wait till i find new homes for my A. bitaeniata juvs and use that tank for a new pair of dwarfs!!!![]()
Doesn't matter, some good food & they'll be all beef up & ready to show!
There seem to be a sudden influx of dwarfs at C328. You might seriously want to reconsider letting your juvs off to hobbyist to lighten your load for introducing more dwarf to your collection!i think i need to stay away from LFS for a few weeks...i'm feeling the draw to obtain some dwarf cichlids for my 422 planted discus tank need to wait for the urge to subside before going to safely view fish again!

Haha Yi Xiang I thought you said you are not going to buy any more cichlids.
I can feel the "Apisto" bug or rather in this case the dwarf cichlid bug calling out to me too..![]()
Yeah chongyu...i'm wishing that this is 1 year later when my apisto rack is set up and runningfor now just have to sit back and drool and wait for the time to come when lack of tanks isn't a problem like it is now!
Benetay, i think i won't be letting go the juvs so soon. Only a few are sexable now and i don't want to mistakenly give 2 males to buyers. On the bright side, i have pre-orders already so once they're sexable, the tank should clear up. I'm hoping to have a batch of elizabethae fry to put in there by that time though! those buggers just refuse to have a successful spawn after many failed attempts![]()
Welcome back! With the influx of dwarf cichlids available why not take this chance to get a few more. They don't come easily!
I remember pre-order list coming up as soon as you announce apisto fries here.
Don't worry, i'm sure you'll have more tank as time goes by.
If you have the time for artificial breeding, why not remove the eggs from the parents and hatch them yourself? Higher chances as i trust myself more than i trust the fishes. The frustration on failed attempts are understandable thats why it had push me so far till i have to intervene!
Cheers!
