    Hi All,

My first Apisto, got it 3 week ago.
Male is more active. But Female is small and very timid, always hiding away from the male.

    Question:
    1) Why do the female body sometimes swim like a "S" shape? It happen quite often near the gravels.
    2) Is the female a she?

Apologise for the poor quality photo taken from my hp.

    Female, Always hiding away.

Erm Don't think that it looks like a agassizii 'Tefe' Maybe experts here can confirm it? But in anycase it looks nice even if it is not a tefe

Based on the advice I received from my thread a while back, it seems like the zig-zag pattern when the fish flares is the key to validating an agassizii 'Tefe'.

In any case, the patterns that extend throughout this fella's dorsal is simply amazing.

Most fish swims in an undulating S-shape. Just that they are too fast for us to see when they are active. The slow S-shape swimming is possibly the "lazy" movement. So i think it should be normal. I have seen my apistos doing that too, especially in the early morning when they are sluggish. So far, no deaths observed from this behavior.

However, we can never be too sure, so please do observe the fish appetite as well as clamp fins, sunken belly, hasten breathing, or dull/black colouration which may indicate that the fish is sick.

Please kindly keep all solicitations to PM (personal messaging) as these are not conducive to the discussion of the husbandry aspects of the fish. Otherwise, the thread can easily degenerate into multiple nonsensical "I want to buy (blah blah blah)" posts.

    Thanks for the cooperation.

hk75, nice looking aggassizi you brought.

Feed the female some baby brine shrimp to see whether she still eating, if not you have to dose some anti- internal parasite medication like miracle baby MQ4. You can get it from C328.
