You done it again.![]()
i didn't do it! it was the fish! i swear it was him!![]()
I meant you managed to breed them.............................................
haha i know, was just kidding with you![]()
Anyway looks promising. Where has the male gone?
chased to other corners of the tank by the female. this rock they spawned on is right smack in the middle at the back of the tank, so the male swims in an arc around the tank. amusingly enough, that rock is the male's original favourite chilling spot, and now she's ousted him from it...looks like despite his size and aggressiveness he's still henpecked
now my dilemma is whether to bother enough about this spawn to put a sponge prefilter at the inlet or just forget it since this was never meant to be a breeding tank![]()
That would depend on whether you want to keep the spawn.![]()
congrats on your spawn! looks like someone is in a dilemma....

always the same dilemma, even with my bitaeniata pair...always breed, but not enough tanks to raise the different generations of fry. my fry growout tank is now housing the bitaeniata female so not conducive to keep fry in
Try selling the batch when they have grown up to at least 2-3 inches!![]()
The passion for aquascaping and apistogramma never fade away
the eggs are gone and the female's still yellow and protecting a different area now. looks like the eggs have hatched into wrigglers and she moved them to a safer spot (naturally formed cave under the bogwood). i'm not going to cover the filter inlet this time round, we'll see how survival is like with the destructive filter and ravenous sparkling gouramis
ultimate motherhood test!

yixiang,
you sure got a breeder's touch, congrats!
Funny thing is I am able to breed discus but no luck when coming to apistos![]()
