Mostly be the water quality affecting the color fading.
Good luck on the crs offspring, hope to hear your good news.
My CRS is pregnant yet again after no joy with previous pregnancies (eggs disappeared after 10 to 14 days...Sigh).
This time round I really hope I can see her offsprings. Here are some low-res shots...
Bought her as A grade but her whites seems to be slowly fading away and I have no clue as to what causes the fading (too many suitors?). Any pointers?

Yes. agree with Richy, got to do with the water. My CRS also didn't breed after pregnancy. Perhap they are too young the first few pregnency. They have eventually bred offsrings. Good luck to you
Thanks guys, so it's water condition but it puzzles me even more then.
PH - 6.5
NO3 - between 0 & 12.5mg/l (according to the colour scale)

How big is your breeding tank? What kind of filtration?

Breeding them in a modest 2 feet tank (the tank on the left)with a ehiem 2211 cannister (ehiem substrate within) and a Resun 280 chiller.
Tankmate - 2 x Otos
Plants - Hc, flame moss, Spiky moss, Fissiden, Rotala Sp.and 1 unknown plant.
Any further possibilities/remedies?
Had a strange finding just now and I suspect that my 2 x Otos had given birth to 7 babies. Tried to take shots of them but failed as they are transparent and I do not have a background paper for the CRS tank. Will try again if I can, meanwile do bear with this picture below taken without flash nor tripod, best I can conjure).

oto can breed in our tank??![]()
Never heard that before myself either! I think this is a desperate case...![]()
There have been reports of spawning if you care to look in the right places.
Most of the spawnings seems to be by accident rather than on purpose. It is hypothesised that this is due to the difficulties of replicating the conditions to trigger the spawnings in the tanks.
Here is an account of spawning of Otos by one of our local hobbyists.
http://www.killies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1563
If the Otos are able to spawn in your tank, I think the water conditions are real good, so your CRS would likely to be successful too.
As promised, here ya go! My least expected member to my CRS tank. Hope they survive. Total 9 Oto babies.
See the thread here on the Otocinclus babies,

Update - My pregnant CRS still nursing her eggs, eggs has turned orange though.

Ansell, I have split out the discussion on the Otocinclus babies. It is not often that we hear of spawnings, so it deserves a thread on its own!![]()
If you want to keep track of the CRS babies,
maybe you can consider putting the female in a breeding net.
Make sure your net is the correct one. Some have too large holes.
Quixotic, will continue to update on the Oto's progress whenever I can. The thread that you've linked us to was well documented, I dont think I can do any better for AQ though. Nonetheless will try.
Kensk, thanks for the tips. I will not quarantine the pregnant one or the shrimplets (same goes for the Otos), because I believe nature will take its course. The CRS that I've biddded from you is still aroundI can see you are already trying to up your stakes on breeding higher grades CRS
thus selling lower grades ones.
Selling off partly to clear tank space. Too overcrowded to my comfort. Sometimes I see them virtually fighting over every piece of "meat" I threw in. Very competitive.
Do you have a pic of the one I sold you? Wonder how it turned out. Have been 4months already!![]()

Think the lost of white could be due to pregnant crs. Mine oso also lost some of her whiteness when she was pregnant but regained back after giving birth. Think the right water condition also brings out the whiteness.

Some high grade CRS with good genes won't lose their white when they are pregnant.

is it easy to breed them??? any tip???? mine got eggs but die suddenily... make me very heart pain to see them go...sad...
That happen to me for the last half year since I started to keep CRS. The most likely cause is water condition![]()
I have molting problem, sudden dead of CRS and drop egg after pregnant as well. I have redo my whole tank a month ago.
Now, I have 1st birth of shrimplets 2 days ago, and there are 2 more CRS with egg. There are no dead CRS for a month as well.
I suggest you take a picture of your tank and put up for recommendation from the expert here.![]()
Sorry folks, it didn't happen this time, breeding unsuccessful yet again.
