you just need to give them lots of good strong sunlight.

Around CCK, big lonkang that lead to Kranji Reservoir. But not easily accessible. Not near HDB flats. You have to cycle about 5 minutes from main road to there then have to go down the steep sloop of the longkang. You also have to bear the "nice" smell and some times stray dogs.

Are you referring to the man-made flood canal near Choa Chu Kang after Bricklands Road? It's near my old workplace... the flood canal itself is quite dangerous but there are a lot of small streams further up towards at the Sungei Tengah area after Qian Hu and the farm mart area. I've seen huge water monitors myself during some of my treks.

Yes, after Brickland Road and it is man made flood canal. I did saw one life monitor, est- 5+ ft long. So I carry a long screw driver just in case attack by monitor or the dogs and high sleeve rubber shoe so that they can bite my leg.

I carried a long metal stick with me whenever I go upstream to the forested rivers. There are small (maybe big) crocodiles and snakes, maybe even arapaimas that owners released after they outgrew their tanks. You never know when you would meet one when you are wading in the water. But the amount of wild fishes and aquatic plants you can find is amazing...

Haha. Type wrongly. Now I have to think hard before I go there again. The danger doesn't cross my mind at that time.

Just don't go alone the next time round.
You can organize a small group (maybe from AQ?) if you intend to go and see see look look such places.

You'll never know what can happen when your alone.

The up stream area - is near jalan Ibadat off Old chua chu kand road? Looking at google map it is quite deep in. May be I will try to cycle there one day and see if can access. My safety will come first.

There are quite a few dozen forest streams in the area, especially in the army training area beside the army camp and further up after the long lim chu kang road (towards Gan's and Teo's). Just stay clear of the live firing areas and restricted areas.

Maybe see see look look can, but if your group has the intent to "harvest"
1: Check if their under AVA portected areas or SAF restricted area, you won't want to get fined right.
2: wash the plants with water mixed with abit of bleach (i saw this somewhere before), then quarantine them for sometime.

I might be interested if it was a small group.

most longkang fish will survive in our tank. I have been catching longkang fish, most if not all survived. as for plants, i have also been collecting some plants which I thought is suitable for the aquarium. I thougth i got egeria densa, bacopa and some other grass which i saw at longkang/pond. they haven't melted and die yet. some are totally not suitable for aquarium.

Yaa man...it makes me wonder too... why those aqua plant that we nurtured, well taken-care off sometimes grows like crap, but those in the wild grows really nice.
I guess it could be those 'dirty water' in the longkang that makes it grow well...
