You mean what type of light wattage you need is it? It really depends on wat plant you want to plant. Hc and hair grass will need more watt lighting. I suppose average 36w or 55w would be reasonable.

    Re: Type of lamp needed?

Just get a 55W PL lamp... you'll be able to grow most common plants with it. my previous setup was similar to yours (60x30x36) and i used a 55W PL to great effect.

choose your plants wisely and you'll surely be happy with the results!

    p.s. here's a few tips"

    java ferns
java moss (now renamed singapore moss)
    anubias barteri
    most crypts
    vallisneria
    echinodorus tenellus
    hairgrass
    and the list goes on...

How about 2x24W T5 HO? If you need high light switch on both, if you need medium/low light, switch on one.

    Re: Type of lamp needed?

2x24W lamp sets sometimes come with only one switch? so you have to add another switch on your own, or remove one tube from the fixture?

55W is enought not too much not too little. how about fertilizer. Your light wattage is consider high if you don't dose enough excel/CO2 and fert, the plant will stun

how about substrate, what kind of substrate did you use? what plant you curently have? and most important how old is your setup? plant will take sometime before it start growing.

You live in BB so you have option to go C328 or you can goto Yishun to visit Aqua Trading. Once you come out of the underground pass, just walk towards the main road, then follow the shops along the main road, turn left as the shops turn, after passing a few coffee shops, you will see this overhead cover on the right hand park. follow it and you will see Aqua Trading which covers a space something like coffee shop. If not, just look for Yishun HDB, it just below it.

It's big, you will have more choice but the location isn't quite friendly.

60cm. I think FL is good enough, if PL cannot find, go for T5 instead. The shopkeepers can provide more information whilst they have others lightings on display.

Shd be the 12000k tubes if i'm not wrong. if it doesnt come with 6500k or 8000k tubes (preferred colour temp for plants) you can try to uptrade the stock tubes for new plant tubes, maybe add $5-$10 per tube.

my 4x24W aquazonic came with 12000k tubes but i've been using them without problems in my tank.

Normal lighting brings out the best in fishes imho.

If you have a whole farm of pearling effect, make sure you keep your watch constant for any signs of the fishes keep surfacing for air. That is a telltale sign for you to do your adjustments.

Having a bubble counter does help but as tank varies in size and water capacity (height), how much bubble per second is still quite an art. Standard web caculator ususally gives you a safe guide there.

Of course if you turn your CO2 tank at full blast, I am sure you will get a lot of pearling effect just kidding....lol.
