Haha, i got those beakers in my lab too, but i dont think my boss & my perfumer will be happy about it if i try out what you do![]()
In the meantime, while I am getting my home vivarium ready, I was busy in my workplace with the these few projects.
The Cherry Shrimp tank was already up and running for 2 years when I seriously tried the cherry shrimps. I guess the parameters are much better now.
The vivarium was an inspiration. I just took some red rocks from my gardener, and went around the garden to get more moss and snails from the pond and it is running already for 2 weeks.
The lab beaker with java moss is almost about 1 week old already.
I am waiting for my home vivarium to be setup before I transfer some weeds from the cherry shrimps tank over to start the home viva.
1st picture, all three pretty tanks sitting on my messy desk. The envy of my colleaques.
2nd picture, closeup of the viva!
3rd picture, viva and beaker of moss
4th picture, the 50% land, 50% water!

Hey bro cdckjn, are you a teacher? Because I see some Passport size photos hanging on your partition
That's a nice idea for a office vivarium![]()

You're indeed sharp!
Such High Observational skills. Yes I am a teacher. The stuff in the tiny viviairum is a CNY plastic cookies container, all flora and fauna from the school pond. My Geography teachers are amazed at the "life" found in our school's pond.
I'm just super hyper (think my insomnia problem is back again
) so I tend to be more alert
So cool! Anything else for you to pick from school garden? Floating plants? or Lilies?Kidding... better not let the principal see

The school pond has koi so there is nothing much else besides the land moss that I can get. Of course the other thing is my D&T workshop so I can get little small pieces of acrylic to make DIY stuff that I can use for the tanks.
haha... bro, we are waiting for your final setup!![]()
cdckjn,
Perhaps you should make another container, with other oddballs from the school pond, like dragonfly larvae. They might make interesting subjects for your colleagues and students to observe, especially during feeding time.
They'll either squirm or go oooh and aaaahh..![]()
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
what is a Vivarium , care to explain more?
Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally spotted two batches of babies. So far the 1st batch (only 2 babies) now are turning red while the 2nd batch (only 1 I think) is still white.
I have an attack of too many snails so as following some advise now killing the snails by crushing them as they come nearer to the surface and then the shrimps eats them.
I also have an attack of too much growth of duckweeds - which I guess that it is good as nutrient export.
So far, my colleagues all excited about the new baby shrimplets!
wow so exciting. i want to start a simple one in the office too.
Inspiring setup.
Anyone using beta tanks to keep shrimps in office?
