Actually hor... I don't believe using those bloody ph meter for aquatic hobby at all and i strongly do not encourage anyone to buy ph meter for aquatic ph reading. The reason is all ph meter probe required calibration every each time when you use it. And if not well taken care, the probe will not be accurate and even loss of sensitively or even non functional. You see if any residue start to accumulate on the probe tip and got harder in due time hence less sensitively and inaccurate in ph reading. Moreover every ph meter probe must be calibrate for every each use. Alamak this ph meter seems very troublesome if any one of us aren't aware of this problem. So don't waste your precious SGD on this totally useless ph meter. use ph test strip is much easier of course, however the tolerance is 0.5% accurate.

    hope this will help you.
    cheers

Okay la. I think you mean those handheld pH meter is it? What most of the shrimp keeper use are those AC type 24/7 reading. Just need to calibrate once every 2-4 weeks will do the job.

Next best will be those drip test kits and lastly test strips.

Drip test kits will give better readings. Especially sera brand. Api will be difficult to check.

Test stripe you need to keep at non moisture environment, if not it will affect future readings.

Finally i got abit of light on choosing filters. As normally i only read post about forum members and their specs,
but rarely i see explaination on why they choose that model.

And thanks for explaining on the chiller portion. clears much of my doubt.
By the way, im using pH test strips in compare with the mixing of chemical type (LFS recommends me the strip one cos she say easier to use). which one is more accurate? likewise, i saw a digital meter in one of the bro's thread that monitors temp / pH etc. how accurate are these gadgets? he mentioned he got it off eBay. . .is this available in Singapore?

and yes. . .i've told mama if she wants me to stay at home. . .she better keep quiet about the electricity bills. . .lol
Hehe, what i had type are actually easily found on google. Read more and understand more before you venture more expensive shrimps.

vivarium? im very interested to start one. but in my personal opinion, if there isn't any frogs / newt in the tank, the land portion will be somewhat wasted.
and in actual fact . . .im a sissy that is afraid of reptiles. . .lol. . .was thinking about crabs, but somehow crabs doesn't really last that long. . .don't want to keep on killing crabs. .=P

I think i will start to do planted tanks with the 2ft for shrimps 1st. after doing the shrimp tank. maybe i will revamp this current 1ft tank into a small vivarium. i guess some portions of this current tank can be used for viva.
