1 - Unpack fish and float unopened bag in your tank for 15-30 minutes . This allows the temperature to equalise between the bag water and the tank water.
2 - Cut the top off the bag and roll the sides down to trap air around the rim of the bag. Top up the bag with water from the tank. Leave for 30 mins to 1 hour. This allows the fish in the bag to gradually get used to the water conditions in your tank.
3 - Turn the bag on its side and move back and forth gently until the fish swim out.

For hardy fish actually don't need so long, but no harm, just do la lol ..

But doing so will mean all the polluted water from the aquarium also enter our tank right?

Yes. For me, I scoop water from my tank into the bag, and instead of pouring the fish out, I net it out of the bag with a small net. If you do step 2 properly, no water should spill out from the bag.

Re: How should I introduce my fishes to the new tank?

Hi, I've been lazy and not testing my water for quite a while I have to admit. But with the introduction of the yamato shrimps last weekend and losing 2 by Tuesday, I think water condition must have not been right.

For my 40L planted tank, I am having 4 rosy tetras, 6 platys, 2 otos and supposedly 5 yamatos (started with 7, with 2 dead, but the remaining 5, I've never been able to see them one time, only managed to see 1-2 each time, but almost impossible to comb through the thick plants at the back of the tank).

Just gotten API KH/GH test kits on top of the PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate kits which I already have. The current water parameters are :

    1) PH: 6.4
    2) Ammonia: 0.25-0.5 ppm
    3) Nitrite: 0 ppm
    4) Nitrate: 40-80 ppm
    5) GH: 6dKH ? (6 drops)
    6) KH: 0dKH ? (no kidding, water never turns blue from the first drop, I googled and it seemed to indicate low KH)
    7) Water temperature: 25-27degrees (fan is on together with the lights for 8 hours daily).

Previously my issue is with the PH being 6.0 or below as the test kit constantly shows yellow. However today, it was a 6.4 which I've not had for weeks. I've been doing daily 10% WC for the past 3 days since I changed my HOB filter(Fluval C3) to a canister(Eheim 2224). Usually I would be doing 30% WC once a week.

The GH seemed to be ok based on the instruction sheet which comes with the test kit for a community tank. Does this means I should look to increase my KH?

My tank have been up and running for 2 months since early June. Thanks.

Re: How should I introduce my fishes to the new tank?

Decided to test the water again today and similar results except ammonia is finally a zero!

GH is 7 dKH while KH is 2 dKH...

Would've been very happy if not for the fact there's some noises coming from my 2224.. Which I suspect needs some cleaning. Just wondering how will that affect the water parameters after cleaning... sigh...
