Do not put yamato in hc tank, especially when the hc not fully spread yet. Unless you want them to uproor your hc

People tend to say it's better to have KH > 4 for better buffer and protect PH from fluctuant. So i used baking soda and gradually increase from 1,2,3, and now 4 dkh. Even though my co2 indicator is around green and light green. I easily could forecast how much my co2 ppm roughly now.

    Now PH is 6.3 - 6.7
    dkh 4.

It depend on what substrate you are using, if ada aquasoil, dont bother, you will have low kh, zero or maybe 1. Plants prefer low kh. Also dont worry about ph, ada soil will buffer it for you

    Re: Iwagumi 2ft tank journal

Hello, my hero, jiayou! Substrate used is ans aquasoil from EO 9L. As most of my equipment are new, I think it is a matter of cycling and maturing the filter, I used back 2 sets of 2 x XXw, Cuba started bubbling again, all my crawlers, Cuba and glosso turned brown, glosso edge turn brown, have since added in Yamato, sae and ottos.
My adviser said that the algae is absorbing growing faster than the Cuba.
So interim, I went to buy cryptocoryne will post a pic later.
Qn: since I canibalised the T5 from my son's 2footer, am thinking if other than buying another 2sets for his tank, what alternatives are available. LEDs for his tank for cost efficiency over the long run? Is LED suffice for glosso?

Uproot had started by crs. I thought Yamatos were helping the hc to grow, pulling strands of hc across to the other and hc actually spread... Silly me.
Crs like to dig hole and sleep under the hc.

Yes, i can grow nice glosso carpet with 12x3W leds.

CRS, chery shrimps all like to dig around, move the soil pelet here and there. So i always advice people who want to grow hc, to not to put shrimps. Notuntil hc spread

Not really matter to plants, you will not see noticeable plant growth differences if any. Is more like how you look at your plant, do you want more yellowish or bluish. Mine is 7000-8000K light bulb.

Have been doing wc daily 25% for a week and adding k+ and seachem flourish.

Stems are turning green, visible improvement. But roots are floating still. So, just control and improve 1 thing at a time.

Leaves are starting to turn green but they are really very small.

get a good diffuser (cant help you on this, never use one) or get inline diffuser, I'm using up inline diffuser the old model. IMO old model better than the new one.

Plants in Tank 2 grew too fast.

The bonsais became trees moss became Christmas trees as well and the tank got choked causing bga to form as I got no time to maintain it.

Some of my hcs went into mini dry garden
