If you intention is to do a small tank in the office, without drawing too much attention from Boss eyes,
I suggest you stick to moss setup.
I saw these pre-tied pieces of DW with moss and nanas selling at C328 for $7-8. If you put one nice piece inside the IQ3 and add a moss ball/rocks with Star moss, should be ok for starters. Add extra stuff later.
I thought the IQ3 comes with built in filter?
Is the pump not working?
Or is it because you dont have a power source where the tank is placed?
Also, you may try to keep CRS or Sakura shrimps without cooling fans or filtration, but I feel it is cruel.
We are not talking about feeder (ghost) shrimps here right?
Anyway, i am sure you can keep the CRS / Sakura without filter (low grades maybe) But i think you will have limited sucesss with CRS in such a small setup (no berrying/sudden deaths - at least until the tank matures).
You will need to change water more often?
(I read a superheated thread by someone who claim he can keep shrimps in tau huay tubs which was put down by several forum shrimps breeders, so I hope this thread does not become like that thread. A IQ3 is just a bigger tau huay tub, right?)
Even with filtration, due to the IQ3 size, please refrain from overloading with too many fishes/shrimps.
For a wallet friendly option, maybe you can pay a visit to C328 and buy a bag of Sakura shrimps (5 for $8 ). If these do well in your IQ3, then you consider whether to add a few CRS inside.
Add a small clip on light or a small LED light. in fact IQ3 has its own compatible clip on light.
These are not expensive. You can check out at Seaview, or C328, Y618 for your options.
Please read up on the many threads from the shrimps experts / sifu.
I always feel that if you want to do a setup, please do it well or don't do it at all.
By the way, I have a nano setup with 2 shrimps, one big trumpet snail, 2 baby swordtails, with some German seaweed (subserberttang) and some blue glass cubes at the base, all in a flower vase. No filter, no light. Simple and beautiful setup. If you PM your number to me, I can whatsapp picture to you.
